Carlos Domínguez
(he/him)
Carlos Domínguez Estelle, trained in psychology in Spain and Mexico, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (#19833) in Canada. His path in mental health has been one of continual learning, shaped by three master’s degrees in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis Applied to Culture, and Education. Over the past 15 years, his work across Latin America, Europe, and North America has allowed him to deeply understand the complexities of human experiences, particularly within diverse cultural settings.
Having gone through his own process of acculturation, Carlos approaches therapy with a heartfelt understanding of the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise from navigating cultural transitions. His experience has allowed him to help individuals facing a wide range of concerns, including personality disorders, addictions, existential crises, Anxiety, depression, and issues related to sexuality. Carlos’ approach is rooted in compassion and a deep respect for each person’s unique journey, always striving to offer a safe, supportive space where clients can work through their challenges.
In therapy, Carlos draws on various techniques, with a strong emphasis on psychodynamic psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). However, he believes in adapting his methods to the specific needs of each client, ensuring a flexible and personalized experience. His practice is one of empathy, openness, and a genuine desire to meet each individual where they are, helping them find clarity and strength on their path.
Currently, Carlos is working on a meaningful project in northern British Columbia with Indigenous communities. This experience has brought him immense satisfaction, allowing him to learn from the richness of Indigenous culture while contributing to their well-being. The insights gained from this work continue to deepen his understanding and enrich the care he offers in his practice.
